Choosing your celebrant and why you should be picky

Let me guess - you’ve spent hours agonising over which photographer, makeup artist, florist, band and caterer to pick? You’ve asked yourself “who’s the best at what they do?” and “will they do a good job for us?”

It baffles me - why aren’t couples as picky when they choose their celebrant? Why do young, vibrant couples choose traditional, old-school celebrants? Why do introverted couples pick loud, extroverted celebrants? Why do couples who like things ‘just so’ chose super laidback celebrants?

Here’s why you should be picky when you choose your celebrant:

1. Your ceremony is the most important part of your wedding day

Without a celebrant, there is no marriage. Your ceremony should be the most special, the most personal and the most YOU part of your day. You need someone who understands you, gets your vibe and reflect the uniqueness of your relationship on the day. Personalisation, warmth and love is expressed by your celebrant. So choose someone who you know will do that for you.

2. Liking your celebrant will make you more comfortable on the day

If you like your celebrant and you trust them - you will be far less stressed in the lead up to your wedding and on the day. If you really feel you’ve connected with your celebrant, you will be able to focus your attention on your excitement and trust that your ceremony will go exactly as you had hoped.

3. Your celebrant’s vibe will be your ceremony’s vibe

If you want a ceremony that will make you laugh, pick a funny, quick on their feet celebrant. If you want a romantic ceremony, choose a celebrant who will recount your love story with all the sweet details. If you want to bring those not-so-serious party vibes, pick a celebrant who doesn’t take themselves too seriously and can bring party energy. The celebrant you pick, will hugely influence the ceremony you have. Celebrant personality reflects celebrant service. Choose what will make you happiest.

So, if you want a ceremony that is fun, warm and serious in all the right places - sounds like I’m the celebrant for you. If you think we’d be friends in real life - I could be your perfect celebrant. I want to give you the ceremony you’ve dreamed of… one that is personal and uniquely you.
