Facts about me

Ugh, these kinds of posts make me cringe. A whole blog post about myself? Ick.

Yet here I am writing this blog post because, well, you need to know who I am, right? You've got to get a good sense of what I’m like and whether or not I would be a good fit for your marriage ceremony. I truly believe you need to be picky about who you ask to run one of the most important moments of your life (see my blog post on that here).

I really owe it to you to give you a glimmer of who I am (as much as I can through written words on a webpage). So here goes…

I’m a lawyer and specialise in criminal law

I’m a former defence lawyer, current law reformer and crime preventer. I was briefly a commercial lawyer, but hey, snoozeville. Give me all the interesting people with interesting matters. I have a Master of Criminology and yes, of course I love crime dramas. I’m an excellent public speaker and give my clients everything I can.

My partner and I did a joint proposal when we got engaged

My partner (Dan) and I got engaged in October 2022. Here’s a fun fact - we did a joint proposal! Dan and I see each other as true teammates and balance and reciprocated love and affection have always been core pillars of our relationship. So when we talked about our engagement, we felt that coming together and asking each other to marry felt more like us. Dan picked our engagement day so it was still a surprise for me, but we both has prepared in advance. It was, without a doubt, the most special and most ‘us’ moment of our lives.

I was a flower girl at my cousin’s wedding… at the age of 25

When I was eight years old, I was completely devastated that nobody had asked me to be their flower girl. My sweet cousin (and best friend) said “that’s okay, you can be my flower girl when I get married”. She was only 10 at the time. Fast forward 18 years, and my cousin kept her promise and all my childhood dreams came true. God, I love my cousin.

I’m an Aunty

I’ve got to say, being an aunty is better than I ever could have imagined. My two nieces are the sweetest babes in the whole world and I will not hear anything different. I love kids and if you want them at your wedding, I’m all for it.

My friend once told me I was like Jennifer Lawrence

My friend from university once told me “you’re cool but you don’t know it. Like Jennifer Lawrence cool”. Whilst I cringe deeply thinking of myself as ‘cool’, I do appreciate the likeness to Jennifer Lawrence. I mean, she’s so effortless and seems so approachable - what great qualities to have.

Hmmm… what else would a marrying couple want to know about me?

I guess that I don’t do things by halves, I love wholly and freely and I would consider it the greatest honour to be a part of your special day.

Sound like we could be friends? Could I be the right fit for your ceremony? Send me a message and let’s grab a drink.
