How many songs should we include in our ceremony?
I’m a huge believer in doing whatever YOU want for your marriage ceremony. They are literally no rules and you call all the shots (I mean, except two legal bits necessary for the marriage to take place).
If you have a list of songs you absolutely must have in your ceremony - let’s do it.
If you only want one to walk down the aisle to - sure, no probs.
If you’re open to advice and want to know what I think works best - well, I think the magic number is three.
1. A song to walk down the aisle to
I mean, this is a no-brainer, right? A justification for this recommendation is hardly necessary.
2. A song to play while you sign your marriage certificates
I think it’s always nice to play a song while you sign your marriage certificates. Your guests will be watching and since no one is really talking, it’s nice to fill the space with a song that is meaningful to you. If I’m honest, I think you’ll need two songs just to be sure. Signing with your witnesses can talk some time, especially if you want your photographer to capture you signing on the dotted line.
3. A song to walk back down the aisle to
At the end of the ceremony, I will announce you as a married couple and you will walk down the aisle (no doubt with confetti or petals being thrown). In my opinion, you need an upbeat song that reflects the happiness that will be happening in that moment.
Don’t know what songs to pick? Check out my spotify playlist for some recommendations (I take this seriously. My playlist reflects months of listening, not just a quick google search!).
